WoW Forever Cloth Farming: Best Spots for Linen to Runecloth
Beta caveat: built from beta data ahead of launch on 4 Nov UTC / 5 Nov AEDT. [Classic-based] = Classic Era data Forever may change; [Unconfirmed] = to recheck at launch.
Cloth drops from humanoids and undead, not from beasts. This page lists the best mobs for each cloth. Linen, Wool and Silk use drops players actually logged in the Forever beta. Mageweave, Runecloth and Felcloth have no Forever drop logs yet, so those spots are Classic picks. For what to make with it, see the Tailoring guide and First Aid.
Which cloth drops at which level
| Cloth | Mob levels | Best levels | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Cloth | About 1–20 | Not listed | Tailoring, First Aid |
| Wool Cloth | About 15–30 | Not listed | Tailoring, First Aid |
| Silk Cloth | 28–40 | 30–40 for drop rate, 36–40 for stack size | Tailoring, First Aid |
| Mageweave Cloth | 38–50 | 45–49 | Tailoring, First Aid |
| Runecloth | 50+ | 55–60 | Tailoring, First Aid, cloth turn-ins |
| Felcloth | 50+ demons only | None (3–5% on normal demons) | High-end Tailoring |

Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth and Felcloth level ranges come from Wowhead's Classic cloth guide. [Classic-based] Linen and Wool ranges are rough, taken from the mob levels in the tables below.
Linen Cloth: where it dropped in the Forever beta
The last two columns show how many logged kills dropped Linen, and how big the sample was. Small samples swing a lot, so treat them as a guide.
| Mob | Zone | Level | Kills that dropped it | Sample |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Venture Co. Peon | The Barrens | 13–14 | 78% | 36 kills |
| Venture Co. Drudger | The Barrens | 14–15 | 74% | 35 kills |
| Kolkar Stormer | The Barrens | 13–14 | 58% | 36 kills |
| Dalaran Protector | Silverpine Forest | 14–15 | 56% | 55 kills |
| Witchwing Slayer | The Barrens | 16–17 | 48% | 81 kills |
| Defias Thug | Elwynn Forest | 3–4 | 38% | 60 kills |
| Vile Familiar | Durotar | 3–4 | 28% | 106 kills |
Ragefire Troggs and Searing Blade Enforcers in Ragefire Chasm dropped Linen on every logged kill (24 and 18 kills). That makes the Orgrimmar dungeon a quick Linen run for Horde.

Wool Cloth: where it dropped in the Forever beta
| Mob | Zone | Level | Kills that dropped it | Sample |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dalaran Watcher | Silverpine Forest | 18–19 | 65% | 17 kills |
| Hillsbrad Footman | Hillsbrad Foothills | 25–26 | 56% | 18 kills |
| Bael'dun Officer | The Barrens | 26 | 49% | 35 kills |
| Bael'dun Excavator | The Barrens | 21–22 | 47% | 59 kills |
| Bael'dun Rifleman | The Barrens | 24–25 | 34% | 73 kills |
| Bristleback Thornweaver | The Barrens | 18–19 | 32% | 34 kills |
| Syndicate Watchman | Hillsbrad Foothills | 20–21 | 30% | 40 kills |
| Ravenclaw Guardian | Silverpine Forest | 20–21 | 29% | 34 kills |
The Bael'dun dwarves at Bael Modan in the southern Barrens give a steady loop of four mob types. Twilight Acolytes in Blackfathom Deeps also dropped Wool.

Silk Cloth: where it dropped in the Forever beta
| Mob | Zone | Level | Kills that dropped it | Sample |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scarlet Scryer | Scarlet Monastery | 30–31 elite | 100% | 13 kills |
| Anguished Dead | Scarlet Monastery | 31–33 elite | 60% | 15 kills |
| Haunting Phantasm | Scarlet Monastery | 32–33 elite | 55% | 11 kills |
| Unfettered Spirit | Scarlet Monastery | 31–32 | 49% | 37 kills |
| Felmusk Shadowstalker | Ashenvale | 26–27 | 44% | 18 kills (1 player) |
| Bleakheart Shadowstalker | Ashenvale | 27–28 | 40% | 15 kills |
| Bleakheart Trickster | Ashenvale | 27–28 | 36% | 25 kills |
| Skeletal Raider | Duskwood | 27–28 | 36% | 14 kills |
Scarlet Monastery is the stand-out. Its Graveyard ghosts and the Scryers dropped Silk on half or more of logged kills, and Scarlet Torturers on 22% of 36. Outdoors, the Bleakheart satyrs and Felmusk satyrs in Ashenvale are the best open-world pick so far.

Mageweave: best Classic spots
No Forever drop logs yet. These are Wowhead's Classic picks. [Classic-based]
| Zone | Mobs | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Feralas | Gordunni ogres, plus Woodpaw gnolls and Grimtotem tauren near Camp Mojache | 40–47 |
| Tanaris | Dunemaul ogres (three camps); Wastewander humans and Southsea pirates on the way | 40–48 |
| Felwood | Lower-level Jadefire satyrs | 50–51 |
The Dunemaul ogres are the long-time favourite: lots of them, fast respawns, flat ground.
Runecloth: best Classic spots
No Forever drop logs yet. [Classic-based]
| Zone | Mobs | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern Plaguelands | Undead in Plaguewood south of Stratholme, Corrin's Crossing and north of Light's Hope Chapel; the troll camp in the far north | 53–60 |
| Western Plaguelands | Undead on the farms and Andorhal; Scarlet Crusade camps by the north wall | 51–58 |
| Felwood | Jadefire satyrs (also Felcloth) | 48–55 |
| Silithus | Humanoid camps | 55–60 |

Killing undead in the Plaguelands also earns Argent Dawn reputation once you hold the Argent Dawn Commission. In Felwood, avoid Timbermaw furbolgs if you care about Timbermaw Hold reputation.

Felcloth: demons only
Felcloth drops only from demons, and rarely: about 3–5% on normal mobs and around 7% on dungeon elites, by Wowhead's Classic numbers. [Classic-based] Farm the Jadefire satyrs at Jaedenar in Felwood, the Legashi satyrs in northern Azshara, or the Warpwood Quarter of Dire Maul. ForeverDB's Classic data also lists Felcloth at 80 silver from Vi'el, an Exotic Reagent Merchant, in Winterspring. [Unconfirmed]
FAQ
Is Scarlet Monastery the best Silk farm in Forever?
On beta data, yes. Four of its mobs dropped Silk on half or more of logged kills, though the samples are small (11 to 37 kills).
Do beasts drop cloth?
No. Cloth comes from humanoids and undead (and Felcloth from demons). Pair cloth farming with Skinning on beast-heavy routes instead.

Why are the Mageweave and Runecloth spots Classic?
Nobody had logged enough high-level Forever kills when we checked. We will swap in Forever data once it exists.
