WoW Forever Leatherworking Guide 1-300: Route, Tanning Rack & Favor
Beta caveat: Forever launches 5 November 2026; all of this comes from beta builds (latest notes 15 October). [Classic-based] = Classic Era data Forever may change; [Unconfirmed] = still to check at launch.
Why Forever needs its own Leatherworking route
Forever lowered the skill-up colours of roughly 20–30 Classic recipes by about 25 points, so Classic routes stall early. Leatherworking also has the beta client's largest recipe list (283 reported), camp objects and a big Merchant's Favor catalogue.
Training ranks
| Rank | Skill range | Train at | Character level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 1–75 | — | 5 |
| Journeyman | 75–150 | 50 skill | 10 |
| Expert | 150–225 | 125 skill | 20 |
| Artisan | 225–300 | 200 skill | 35 |
Each rank needs both the skill and the character level shown, as in Classic. Trainer names and costs aren't re-checked for Forever yet, so ask the trainer in your capital. You get one Legacy point the first time you reach 150, 225 and 300.

Leatherworking 1–300 route
Recipe choices follow Forever-specific beta guides. Craft counts are estimates based on average skill-up chance; colours may shift again before launch.

Train Journeyman at 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200 as you reach them. Thread, dye and salt come from leatherworking supply vendors [Classic-based].
Materials per craft were checked against Wowhead's Forever spell tooltips on 28 October. They match Classic except the Thick Leather Ammo Pouch, which uses an Elixir of Defense in Forever (Classic: Elixir of Greater Defense). Sub-crafts: Cured Light Hide, Cured Medium Hide (1 Medium Hide, 1 Salt) and Cured Heavy Hide (1 Heavy Hide, 3 Salt).
The Tanning Rack
The 140-skill camp object. Blueprint from Razorclaw the Butcher in Shadowfang Keep; costs 5 Medium Leather, 3 Fine Thread, 2 Simple Wood; lasts 15 minutes; required by 48 recipes. Other camp objects: Camp Tent (20), Sewing Machine (300).

Pristine Leather and Forever recipes
The new Brawler's, Defender's, Stormrider's, Totemic, Trapper's and Wisdom's leather lines use Pristine Leather from Skinning. Later sets such as Prowler's and Skulker's use Pristine Hide, whose source is still unconfirmed. Barbaric Bracers, Wolfshead Helm and several Dragonscale pieces are reported as Tanning Rack recipes.
Merchant's Favor patterns
Daniel Stitchsong at Three Corners, Redridge (Alliance): Brawler's line at skill 60–110 for 30 Favor each, Prowler's/Skulker's pieces and the Forceful Thick Armor Kit (185) and Mystic Rugged Armor Kit (235) for 60–90 Favor, and the Leatherworking Certification at 300 (1,000 Favor, title “the Leatherworker”). See Merchant's Favor.
Pair it with Skinning
The route burns hundreds of Light, Heavy, Thick and Rugged Leather; level Skinning alongside to cut costs and fill crates.
Tips
- Keep Heavy Leather from the 125–135 step; the Heavy Armor Kit and Guardian Gloves steps use it.
- Spare leather fills Textiles crates; bring 40 Medium Leather for a Journeyman crate until the 20 vs 40 question is settled.
