Protection in Forever is a proper tank. Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization return Mana while you tank, Templar's Bulwark is a big emergency button, and Holy Shield, Reckoning and Holy Strike (with Iron Creed) give you threat.

Talents (level 30 beta)

Wowhead lists three routes: - Defensive: Improved Seal of Fury, Shield Specialization and Templar's Bulwark, plus 3 points in either One-Handed Weapon Specialization (about +1% damage per point) or Improved Righteous Fury (−2% damage taken per point while Righteous Fury is on). - Mana-efficient: the defensive core plus Holy Conduit, so you can keep Consecration down on every pull. - Ret hybrid: Pursuit of Justice, Vengeance, Holy Conduit and Sanctified Judgement, for players who quest more than they tank.

With Talented, put points into Reckoning. In the Forever version, blocks can bank up to 4 extra attacks, and it can't trigger from blocks more than once every 1.5 s.

Numbers that changed recently

26 Oct: Righteous Fury's Holy threat bonus is down to 60% (was 90%).
16 Oct: Shield Specialization returns 4% Mana with a 3 s internal cooldown (was 6%).
1 Oct: Redoubt now gives 4/8/12/16/20% block, and Holy Shield gives 30% block.
8 Oct: restoring Mana no longer generates threat.

At level 60

The most published Prot split on wow-forever.gg is 8/43/0. Almost every build takes Redoubt, Sacred Duty, Templar's Bulwark and Iron Creed. It can't be tested past 30 yet. [Unconfirmed]
