WoW Forever guide for beginners

WoW Forever is set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. You level to 60 on the original continents (Blizzard: Carve a New Path (launch date)). The 16 Oct beta build added a new tutorial for new players (Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes (Updated October 26)).

Step 1: Choose a ruleset

The rulesets are Normal, PvP and RP. Hardcore comes after launch (Blizzard: Deep Dive panel recap, Blizzard: Choose Your Ruleset). If you're not sure, Normal is the simplest place to start.

Six race/class combinations are new in Forever (Blizzard: Deep Dive panel recap):

Gnome Priest · Human Hunter · Dwarf Shaman · Orc Mage · Troll Warlock · Undead Paladin

The Skyborne start on Zephras Isle (Blizzard: Meet the New Skyborne). The other starting zones are Classic Era baseline. After that, follow the Alliance route or the Horde route.

Combat pace. A normal creature should take about 10–15 seconds to kill solo (Blizzard: Deep Dive panel recap).
Camping. Sit at a Basic Campfire to get rested and pick up 1-hour buffs (Blizzard: Deep Dive panel recap).
Talents. Milestone talents unlock at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points (Blizzard: Deep Dive panel recap).
Legacy. Most players earn their first point when a character reaches 25 (Blizzard: Get to Know the Legacy System).
Quest Tracker. It now shows quest level requirements (8 Oct build) (Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes (Updated October 26)).

From the 8 Oct build, nobody gets XP if a party member is far higher level (Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes (Updated October 26)). Group with players close to your level.
