Deadwind Pass levelling guide (levels 50–60) — WoW Forever

A short, grim valley between Duskwood and the Swamp of Sorrows. It has no quests, mobs from level 55 to 60, and Karazhan, which you can see but can't go into.

Deadwind Pass isn't in the beta client's Group Finder bands (see the zones hub), so treat it as a place you pass through or farm, not a levelling zone.

Straight answer: are there quests here? (Classic Era baseline)

Hardly any. Wowhead Classic's zone description says "Deadwind Pass has no quests". We checked every quest Wowhead tags to the zone on 29 Oct 2026, and all of them are Season of Discovery quests (patch 1.15.x), not Classic Era ones. Season of Discovery isn't Forever, so we don't list them as Forever content. If Blizzard adds anything here for Forever, it's [Unconfirmed] until launch on 5 Nov 2026.

What the zone does have is level 55–60 mobs, good cloth drops and a quiet road between two levelling zones.

Getting there (Classic Era baseline)

Deadwind Pass has no flight master, inn or town of its own. Wowhead lists a Spirit Healer at about 40, 75. Commenters on the zone page suggest keeping to the road if you're just crossing, because the level 55+ mobs sit off to the sides (commenter tip).

Karazhan: what you can and can't do (Classic Era baseline)

Karazhan, Medivh's old tower, stands in the south of the pass. Wowhead Classic describes it as "sealed off to players". There's no Karazhan dungeon or raid in Classic Era. It only opened as a raid in The Burning Crusade (commenter note, not part of Classic). Forever's published dungeon and raid lists don't include it (see the Forever Dungeons Overview), so don't plan on getting inside at launch. Any Forever change here is [Unconfirmed].

There is one real Classic Era link to the tower: the Naxxramas legendary staff Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian has a Use effect that "creates a portal, teleporting group members that use it to Karazhan". Whether Forever keeps Atiesh is [Unconfirmed].

Morgan's Plot, the graveyard near the tower, has a crypt that commenters say is unfinished and can't be entered (commenter note, [Unconfirmed]). Reports about beta players exploring under the tower come from fan sites, not Blizzard, so we don't repeat them here.

Mobs (Classic Era baseline)

Wowhead Classic lists no rare or elite mobs in Deadwind Pass, so there are no rares to hunt. Every mob below is a normal mob. Areas are rough, taken from where Wowhead's spawn coordinates cluster.

Farming notes (Classic Era baseline)

• Cloth: the ogre camp is dense and drops a lot of Runecloth. Wowhead's Classic cloth-farming guide names Deadwind Warlocks and Unliving Caretakers as Runecloth spots, and commenters agree (commenter tip).
• Solo pulls: Ogre Mages can cast Bloodlust and Lightning Shield, so kill them first or pull them on their own. The undead in the ruins are level 58–60, so come back for them near the cap.
• Forever: Blizzard hasn't published drop-rate or respawn changes for Deadwind. Rates above are Classic Era and may change. [Unconfirmed]
