Ooze quests: Felwood and Un'Goro slime samples (Classic Era baseline)
Both factions have a short ooze-research line for levels 48 and up. Alliance players fill jars for Laris Geardawdle in Ironforge. Horde players collect and test samples for Chemist Fuely in the Undercity. Either way you start on the corrupted oozes of Felwood and finish on the wild ones in Un'Goro Crater. We found no ooze-sample quest in Silithus on Wowhead Classic. Forever changes: [Unconfirmed].

Steps
| # | Quest | Level | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A Little Slime Goes a Long Way | 52 | Alliance. From Laris Geardawdle (Ironforge 74.8, 22.2). Open the Package of Empty Ooze Containers, then fill 6 Cursed and 6 Tainted Ooze Jars in Felwood |
| 2 | A Little Slime Goes a Long Way | 54 | Alliance, follows step 1. Open the Bag of Empty Ooze Containers and fill 10 Filled Pure Sample Jars in Un'Goro Crater |
| 3 | A Sample of Slime... | 52 | Horde. From Chemist Fuely (Undercity 47.4, 73). Loot Felwood Slime Samples, test them at the Testing Equipment beside Fuely and hand in 5 Corrupted Felwood Samples |
| 4 | ... and a Batch of Ooze | 56 | Horde. Same idea in Un'Goro: loot Un'Goro Slime Samples, test them, hand in 5 Pure Un'Goro Samples |
| 5 | Melding of Influences | 55 | Horde, needs both steps above. Release the Encased Corrupt Ooze next to a Primal Ooze, kill what it becomes and bring back the Merged Ooze Sample |
The level column is the quest level Wowhead shows. Every step needs level 48.
How the samples work
Alliance jars. Kill the ooze, then target its corpse and use the matching empty jar. Each jar's tooltip says it fills with a sample of that ooze and warns that the body will likely be destroyed, so Wowhead commenters advise looting first. The pure-sample jar has a 7-second cast at melee range (Wowhead spell data). Cursed jars need Cursed Ooze (level 49–50). Tainted jars need Tainted Ooze (level 51–52). Wowhead commenters say the pure jars for step 2 fill from any of the Un'Goro oozes.
Horde samples. The slime samples are normal loot. Wowhead lists Felwood Slime Samples from Cursed and Tainted Ooze, and Un'Goro Slime Samples from Muculent, Primal and Glutinous Ooze. Testing happens at the Testing Equipment next to Fuely. Each test is a small repeatable quest (for example Testing for Impurities - Un'Goro Crater), and only some samples pass. Collect more than five of each.
Melding of Influences, step by step (Horde)
- Hand in both A Sample of Slime... and ... and a Batch of Ooze. Wowhead lists both as requirements.
- Take the Encased Corrupt Ooze to Un'Goro Crater and find a Primal Ooze (level 50–52).
- Pull the Primal Ooze first, then use the case. Wowhead commenters warn that releasing it before the fight starts can waste the case.
- The two merge into a Gargantuan Ooze. Kill it and loot the Merged Ooze Sample. Commenters say it splits off a clone during the fight.
- Return to Fuely.
Rewards (Classic Era baseline, choose one)
Alliance, A Little Slime Goes a Long Way (step 2):
Horde, Melding of Influences:
The other steps give XP only. Wowhead lists no item reward for them.
Tips
- Fill or collect your Felwood samples while you level in Felwood. Then do the Un'Goro half alongside the Un'Goro Crater quests and crystal pylons.
- Each Alliance quest hands you its own bag of empty jars, so you don't need to buy any.
- Zone guides: Felwood, Un'Goro Crater.
