Gahz'rilla and the Mallet of Zul'Farrak (Classic Era baseline)
Gahz'rilla is a level 50 Zul'Farrak dungeon quest from Wizzle Brassbolts in the Shimmering Flats. It needs level 40, is open to both factions and can be shared. The boss only appears when someone strikes the gong with the Mallet of Zul'Farrak, so most of the work is making that mallet. The reward is the Carrot on a Stick trinket. Making the Mallet of Zul'Farrak
There's no quest called "The Mallet of Zul'Farrak" on Wowhead Classic. The mallet is an item you make yourself:
- Go to The Hinterlands and kill Qiaga the Keeper (level 50, around 48.2, 67.4 per her Wowhead NPC page). She drops the Sacred Mallet.
- Take it to the altar in Jintha'Alor and use it there. The item says: use at the Jintha'Alor Altar to create the Mallet of Zul'Farrak. Wowhead commenters place that altar near 59, 77: [Unconfirmed].
- You now have the Mallet of Zul'Farrak (binds when picked up, unique). Wowhead lists it as the key that opens the Gong of Zul'Farrak.
Wowhead commenters report that Qiaga's nearby guards join the fight, and that the Jintha'Alor altar sits deep inside a hostile troll area. Bring a group or plan a careful route.
Summoning Gahz'rilla
- In Zul'Farrak, find the sacred pool with the gong. Wowhead commenters describe a large pool with a gong at one end.
- Clear the patrols around the pool first.
- The mallet holder strikes the gong to summon Gahz'rilla. Kill him and loot the scale (a quest item).
- Return to Wizzle in the Shimmering Flats.
Commenters suggest only one player in the group needs a mallet, so check before you farm a second: [Unconfirmed].
