Pick Combat for leveling

Wowhead's beta tester calls Combat the most complete rogue spec between 20 and 30. You build combo points with Sinister Strike, spend them on Slice and Dice and Eviscerate, and lean on your auto attacks.

First talent points

Put your first points into Improved Sinister Strike (cheaper builder) and Remorseless Attacks (stronger builder). Both show up in the beta client trees.

Weapons

Combat is driven by auto attacks and Sinister Strike, so a slow axe, mace, sword or fist weapon in your main hand is the biggest upgrade you can make. Buy the weapon skill for whatever you pick up. The Stealth quest The Eye of Bhossca rewards Ruby-Adorned Blade, which Wowhead rates as the best weapon at 30.

Professions

Skinning plus Leatherworking opens strong early crafted leather. First Aid gives you bandages and, in Forever, healing potions, which cuts downtime.

Level 30 talents

Wowhead offers two paths: - Blade Flurry build: all Combat, with Dual Wield Specialization and Flawless Execution. Best for dungeons. Talented points add Hack and Slash. - Relentless Strikes build: reaches Relentless Strikes in Assassination along with Malice and Ruthlessness. Best for single target before Talented. Talented points move a few points into Puncturing Wounds and Opportunity for daggers.

In dungeons

Sap no longer breaks Stealth, so it's reliable crowd control. Alternate Kick and Gouge to stop casts, and from 30 add Cheap Shot after Vanish and Kidney Shot. Use Expose Armor when your group is mostly physical. If a target is about to die with combo points on it, spend them on Slice and Dice before you move to the next mob.

Level 30 to 60

Beta caps at 30; no tested route or talent order beyond. Level 30–60 route: Not yet published, updated at launch.
