WoW Forever nameplate and threat addons
Short answer: โ yes, the big nameplate addons work. Plater, Threat Plates and Platynator all had files tagged Forever on CurseForge when we checked on 31 Oct 2026. For a threat meter, ThreatClassic2 and NKThreat have Forever files too. (CurseForge)
You may not need any of them. Forever has its own nameplate options and an Aggro Display setting built in.

๐ฅ Plater: the most popular pick
Plater changes plate size in and out of combat, tracks debuffs and colours plates by aggro with no setup. It has hundreds of settings and separate settings for enemy players and enemy NPCs. You can import profiles, mods and scripts from wago.io, and keep them updated with the WeakAuras Companion app. It's maintained by the team behind Details!. (CurseForge)
Plater's colours depend on your role:
| You are | ๐ฅ Red plate | ๐ช Purple plate |
|---|---|---|
| โ๏ธ DPS or healer | The mob is attacking you | The mob isn't on you |
| ๐ก๏ธ Tank | The mob is not on you | โ |

๐งฉ Plater profile, import and Lua errors
| Problem | Try |
|---|---|
| ๐ Profile import fails | Copy the whole string again. A string made for Retail may use mods that don't load in Forever [Unconfirmed] |
| ๐ด Lua error from a mod or script | Turn that mod off, then update Plater. Modern addon rules block some combat data, so old scripts can break |
| โ Plater isn't in the AddOns list | Check the file is the Forever one. See addons not working |
| ๐ Settings reset | See addons not saving settings |

Blizzard says addons can still restyle nameplates, but can't read the full combat picture they used to. (Blizzard) More on the limits: WoW Forever addon API.
๐ง Threat Plates and ๐ฉ Platynator
Threat Plates sets your role from your spec, so tank plates and DPS plates colour the right way round from the start. It has a full health bar view or a name-only view, totem plates, and profiles per spec. (CurseForge)
| Threat Plates command | Does |
|---|---|
/tptp |
Opens the options |
/tptptank ยท /tptpdps |
Switch tank or DPS threat plates |
/tptptoggle |
Swap between the two roles |
/tptpol |
Turn nameplate overlap on or off |
Platynator is built around a visual designer. Click a part of the plate to change it, or drag it to move it. It can colour plates by threat, elite type or interrupt ready, and its General tab has an Import button for shared styles. Type /platy and open the Designer tab. (CurseForge)

๐ฅ Threat meter addons for Forever

Several newer meters made only for Forever showed up in the same search on 31 Oct, such as Threat Display, BlizzThreatPlates-Forever and Forever: Threat (Plates & Bar). They're small projects, so check the file date and comments first. (CurseForge search)
โ ๏ธ What threat meters can't see in Forever
Exact threat numbers are hidden from addons, so meters show percentages. A player in the beta threat thread put it this way, and the meter authors say the same. (Blizzard forums)

| Limit | What you'll notice | Source |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ Boss threat hidden in dungeons and raids | Percentages only, not sorted | NKThreat |
| ๐ Nameplates unreadable in instances | Threat overlays on plates can vanish | NKThreat |
| ๐ No combat log | Taunts are guessed from casts | NKThreat |
| ๐ก๏ธ Tank check | Uses Defensive Stance, Bear Form and Righteous Fury. Righteous Fury is only checked out of combat | ThreatClassic2 |
| ๐ Not on the threat table yet | Players appear only after they hit or heal | ThreatClassic2 |
ThreatClassic2 draws its pull line at 110% in melee and 130% at range. (CurseForge)
๐ ๏ธ Built-in nameplates and threat, no addon
| Built in | How | Source |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ท๏ธ Nameplate settings | Options > Nameplates | Blizzard image |
| ๐ฅ Aggro Display | Search "Threat" in Options (added in the 15 Oct beta build) | Myrtana changelog |
| ๐ข Threat percent on your target | /console threatShowNumeric 1 |
Player report, Blizzard forums [Unconfirmed] |
| ๐ Hide your secondary name | Options > Nameplates > My Secondary Name | Character creation |

A player in the beta thread said the default plates have several threat checkboxes, such as colour changes and flashing. [Unconfirmed] We haven't seen Blizzard list them. (Blizzard forums) More built-ins: WoW Forever UI.

๐ Why nameplates vanish at range
In the 15 Oct beta build, Blizzard cut how far away enemy and NPC nameplates show when they're above or below you, to reduce clutter. Your current target's plate isn't affected. (Myrtana changelog, mirroring Blizzard's beta development notes)
Beta players also said plates seem hidden by line of sight, such as trees, and that the range felt short in PvP. (Blizzard forums) [Unconfirmed] Blizzard hasn't given a yard number, and we don't know of a setting that raises it.
| You see | Likely cause | Try |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ Plates missing on far mobs | The shorter distance from 15 Oct | Target the mob, its plate stays |
| ๐ฒ Plates missing behind trees | Line of sight, per player reports [Unconfirmed] | Move into the open |
| โ Addon plates gone in a dungeon | Values hidden from addons there | Expected. Update the addon |
| ๐ All plates off | Nameplates toggled off | Check Options > Nameplates |

โญ Combo points on nameplates
Forever's default UI shows combo points on the target frame, not on the enemy plate. Two addons made for Forever add them. (ComboPlate)
| Addon | For | Opens with | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| โญ ComboPlate | Rogues. Points stay on the mob that has them | /cp |
CurseForge |
| ๐พ Combo Points on Plate | Rogues and cat-form Druids, works in dungeons | /cpp |
CurseForge |
ComboPlate's author says version 1.1.1-beta was tested on Forever beta 1.60.1. Combo Points on Plate only displays the counts the game already gives, so it fits Forever's rules. (ComboPlate, Combo Points on Plate)
