WoW Forever addons not working? Fixes
Short answer: most problems are the wrong folder, a non-Forever file, or a missing dependency.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 🚫 Not in the AddOns list | Wrong folder, or one folder too deep | Interface\AddOns\Name\Name.toc in the Forever folder |
| 🕰️ "Out of date" | No Forever version | Install the Forever file, or wait for one |
| 🧩 "Dependency missing" | Needs a library or core addon | Install what it names first |
| 🔄 New addon not loading | Game was running | Restart fully (/reload won't load new files) |
| 💥 Silent errors | Forever hides Lua errors | Install BugSack + BugGrabber |
| 💾 Settings reset | Crash, or read-only WTF |
See the settings fix |
| ⛔ Game won't patch | Addon manager blocking Agent | Close it, restart, try again (Blizzard) |
⬆️ How to update addons
| Method | Steps |
|---|---|
| CurseForge app | Forever selected > Update all > restart the game |
| By hand | Close the game > delete the old folder > copy the new one in |

Your settings live in WTF, so deleting the addon folder doesn't wipe them. Tip: the interface version may change at launch. Check for updates after launch day.
⚠️ Don't force it
Ticking Load out of date AddOns doesn't make old code work on Forever. It runs on the modern client, so Classic-era code can break.
FAQ

FAQ
Why don't my addons show up in WoW Forever?
Usually the wrong folder or one folder too deep. Addons go in Interface\AddOns inside the Forever client folder, with the .toc file directly inside each addon's folder.
Why does my addon say out of date?
It doesn't list Forever's interface version yet. Install the file marked Forever, or wait for the author to release one.
How do I see addon errors in WoW Forever?
Forever hides Lua errors by default. BugSack with BugGrabber, both with Forever files, collects them.

Can addon managers stop WoW Forever from patching?
Yes. Blizzard says addon managers can prevent the Battle.net Agent from updating game files. Close them, restart and try again.
