Can you transfer characters in WoW Forever?
Short answer: ❌ No, not between rulesets. To play on another ruleset you roll a new character there. The one exception is a dead Hardcore character, which can move out.
| Move | Allowed? |
|---|---|
| Normal ↔ PvP ↔ RP ↔ RP-PvP | ❌ No, make a new character |
| Hardcore → any ruleset (after death) | ✅ Yes, including PvP |
| Any ruleset → Hardcore | ❌ No |
| Classic Era / Anniversary / Retail → Forever | ⏳ [Unconfirmed] Nothing announced |
| Faction change | ⏳ [Unconfirmed] Nothing announced |
Why it's locked
Blizzard describes each ruleset as its own community, so movement is limited on purpose. Forever has no realms to hop between either: each region gets one space per ruleset. Your ruleset choice is effectively permanent. Rulesets explained
What does carry over
- Collections and Legacy Points are account-wide across rulesets.
- Hardcore is one-way: what you earn there becomes available elsewhere; nothing flows back in.
Hardcore transfers
Hardcore isn't live at launch; Blizzard says it comes later. When it arrives, a character who dies there can transfer to another ruleset, PvP included. Timing ⏳ [Unconfirmed].
Before you roll
- Agree on ruleset and faction with friends first. Groups don't cross either.
- On PvP you can only make characters of one faction. Cross-faction rules
